Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson

Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson is a Japanese American author-illustrator who grew up in both America and Japan. She now lives in California in a house filled with three generations of family, two languages, and countless books and art supplies.

THE MOCHI MAKERS (Simon & Schuster/Beach Lane Books, 2024), her debut picture book, was inspired by the sweet sight of her two children making mochi with their grandmother. Sharon created the art in this book in digital collages by layering pencil sketches, digital paintings, hand painted papers, family photographs, heirloom kimono fabrics, and kitchen cloths embroidered by her grandmother.

SHELL SONG (Simon & Schuster/Beach Lane Books, 2025) was inspired by the seashells Sharon’s grandfather collected in a World War II  incarceration camp in Hawaii.

Sharon is represented by Anne Moore Armstrong at The Bright Agency.
